Veteran broadcaster Anthony “Ka Tunying” Taberna extended his birthday greetings to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. through a social media post on Saturday, September 13.

In his Instagram Stories, Anthony shared a photo of himself shaking hands with the President at what appeared to be a social gathering. President Marcos, who turned 68 this year, appeared cheerful in the photo as he engaged with the broadcaster and other guests during the occasion.

The broadcaster accompanied the picture with a short but striking caption: “Happy birthday, Mr. President! Penge pong regalo – tanggalin mo na po, please!”

While Anthony did not elaborate on what he was referring to, the playful line immediately caught the attention of netizens for its humorous tone combined with a hint of appeal. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is the 17th President of the Philippines, elected in May 2022 with a historic majority vote. The project, a 220-meter river wall, was officially listed as 100% complete and fully paid for, but the president found no signs of construction during his inspection. The government is considering filing economic sabotage charges against the contractors and individuals involved in the fraudulent scheme. Marcos revealed the tip about the fraudulent project came from the public through his "Sumbong sa Pangulo" website, a platform for citizens to report government malpractices.
