“Kasi para po sa akin, when you do something, or if you take a risk, always learn or always know, na as much as you want to be accepted, dapat ready ka ma-reject,” he said.

However, he recalled an incident when he was just 15 years old, hoping to surprise his parents by auditioning to become an artist.

“I did everything, nag-acting, singing, dancing in front of one person kasi ni-lock niya 'yung pinto, tapos ayoko na po mag-dive into details, pero nag-audition po kasi ako to become an artist,” he recollected.

Maki continued, “And then after the audition po, tinanong niya ako ng mga questions po na medyo hindi po siya pambata, 'yung mga tanong.”

It was the first time he had been asked such questions, leaving him unsure how to respond.

During the interview, Tito Boy pressed further, asking, “Were you sexu@lly harassed? Were you verbally, sexu@lly harassed? Because harassment comes in many forms. Naramdaman mo ba na na-violate ang iyong pagkatao?” To this, Maki responded, “Ay, opo. Yes po.”

When the King of Talk inquired if the remarks made during the audition implied that fame would follow if Maki agreed to the person’s wishes, the young musician replied, “Malapit na po [doon].”

Maki shared that during the audition, he asked to use the bathroom and left without coming back. He said he cried in the jeepney on his way home—not due to the person’s actions, but because he believed it meant he would never succeed in the industry.

“Akala ko hindi po para sa akin 'tong industry kasi maybe it's too harsh for me, maybe I'm not ready yet for this dream, so if my dream is too big, baka hindi ako bigyan ng ways to achieve it,” he said.

The “Dilaw” hitmaker clarified that he was never physically touched, but the experience left him feeling exposed: “Metaphorically, parang ganu'n po 'yung naisip ko kahit hindi physically po, pero parang I felt na I was really, really exposed.”
