In a heartwarming social media post, the Kapuso star revealed that the elegant piece she wore for the event was the same gown she donned during StarStruck’s judgement night more than two decades ago.

“Do you remember this gown? This is the very same gown I wore during StarStruck’s Judgement Night 21 years ago!” she wrote. “You might even catch a glimpse of it in the opening and closing scenes of GMA’s Station ID on TV.”

In celebration of GMA Network’s 75th anniversary, Yasmien chose to pay a quiet yet powerful tribute by breathing new life into a dress that marked the beginning of her showbiz journey. She had the gown upcycled by designer JC Buendia, the same fashion visionary introduced to her back in her StarStruck days by stylist Sander Andan.

“It was such a warm and nostalgic moment catching up with him after so many years,” she shared. “Ang galing ng ginawa niyo sa gown… akala ko forever na siya sa cabinet ko. Magagamit ko pala ulit.”

The actress also thanked her stylist, Gabby Wu, for pulling together the look despite a hectic schedule.

“Side note: naiwan ko yung bracelet … dapat may bangle pa yan!” she likewise revealed.

Yasmien wrapped up her post by saying, “I had the best time at the Gala reconnecting with old friends who truly feel like family. Happy 75th, GMA! Here’s to many more years of storytelling and memories.”

She shared the sentimental story behind the gown alongside photos of her at the event, captured by Nice Print Photography, as well as a video of the fashion designer skillfully transforming the decades-old dress.

Yasmien Kurdi is a Filipina actress and commercial model. She rose to popularity after joining and being the first runner-up on the first season of Starstruck, a reality-based talent search show by GMA Network. She graduated with Latin honors in AB Political Science from Arellano University. She is married to a pilot, and they now have two daughters, Ayesha and Raya Layla.

Ayesha will be attending her homeschool classes under the Seibo College Foundation. The actress then proceeded to thank a lot of people in her now-viral post on Instagram. Meanwhile, Yasmien took to Instagram Stories and shared several photos taken during her college days. She also encouraged everyone to show or share their college pictures as well. In the photos, Yas could be seen wearing a nursing student uniform. Some photos also showed that she was with her classmates and friends. The actress also revealed where she studied nursing, as well as the school that she subsequently moved to. "Yep! Sa NEU ko kinuha nursing ko... then lumipat ako sa GCIC miss ko na mga classmates and mga CI ko jan!" she shared.
