In his post on Instagram on Saturday, July 19, the actor-director encouraged people to acknowledge others’ preferred pronouns.

He said a simple act like this can go a long way in making someone feel seen and appreciated.

“Napaka simple. Kung ikaliligaya ng isang tao ang matawag ng he or she at hindi mo naman ikamamatay, aba’y gawin mo na (If it makes someone happy to be called he or she and it won’t cost you anything, then just do it),” he wrote in a quote card, which also displays his stunning photo.

The veteran comedian accompanied the quote card with a caption emphasizing compassion.

“Napaka simple mga anak. At the end of the day, nakapagpaligaya ka ng isang tao at wala kang nasaktan (It’s very simple, my children. At the end of the day, you’ve made someone happy without hurting anyone),” Lapus penned, reminding the public that kindness doesn’t require grand gestures.

John Lapus, also known by his nickname "Sweet," is a well-known Filipino actor, comedian, host, writer, and director. He is the brother of Bianca Lapus. John is known for his roles in many films like Shake, Rattle & Roll. He is a film director and has helmed several projects, including indie and digital series. Sweet is also recognized as an outspoken LGBTQ+ advocate, often using his platform to promote acceptance, inclusion, and gender equality.

As per the comedian-director, the lovely meeting happened when she visited the Philippines in 2003 for her concert. Lapus said he was the opening act for the show.
