During her interview on Long Conversation: The Men’s Room by One News, Sanchez expressed regret for playing the late former president in the 2022 film.

“Pinagsisihan ko 'yan. Kasi sabi nila, ‘Giselle, UP ka. Ba't mo ginawa 'yon?’” said Sanchez, who took a Mass Communications course at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she graduated magna cụm laude.

“Hindi ko inisip, eh,” she opened up. “Sana inisip ko nga naman taga-UP ako. Sana inisip ko 'yong bansa ko bago ko tinanggap 'yon. Kasi inisip ko lang, artista ako.”

Sanchez revealed she even cried due to the criticisms she received for portraying Aquino.

In a Facebook post on Friday, July 11, the director frankly responded to Sanchez’s sentiments.

However, Yap penned a fiery remark on Sanchez’s mention of being a University of the Philippines graduate.

“Bakit?

Despite this, the controversial director swore to respect everyone’s art.
