Actress-politician Aiko Melendez took to social media to share her ongoing health and fitness journey, posting clips of her exercise routine and opening up about her battle with hypothyroidism—a condition that has affected both her weight and overall well-being.

“Having hypothyroidism is tough—sudden weight gain, palpitations—but thankfully, Dr. Roland Angeles gave me the right medications and, under his supervision, I was able to recover step by step,” Aiko wrote. “With thyroid problem, it’s also important to exercise and sweat out the toxins.”

She also talked about the challenge of sticking to a gym schedule, given her busy lifestyle as an actress and public servant. Instead of giving up on fitness, Aiko found a solution that works for her.

Looking ahead, Aiko shared a personal goal tied to an upcoming milestone: “And my goal, before I turn 50 this year, is to be healthier.”

Her message wasn’t just about her own fitness journey—it was also a call to action for others: “And as an actress, I’m praying that I can influence my followers to know that it’s never too late to be healthy.”

Aiko Melendez is a well-known showbiz personality. In 2018, she received the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "Rainbow's Sunset."
