In a candid interview with GMA Integrated News anchor Nelson Canlas that aired Thursday on 24 Oras, actor Alden Richards revealed that 2024 marked the most difficult chapter of his life, describing the year as his “lowest” and his personal “rock bottom.”

“I think last year was my lowest year. Rock bottom. It took me six months to get over that,” Alden shared. “That was—hindi naman siya clinically diagnosed, but that was depression at its finest. That was depression.”

The Sparkle star admitted that his struggle stemmed from constantly putting others before himself, a pattern that eventually led to emotional burnout. “Inuuna ko muna lahat ng tao bago sarili ko. But last year, medyo—I think that was my breaking point,” he confessed. “Kasi minsan ‘di ba tayo, we always go out of our way to help other people. Tulong, tulong, tulong. Bigay, bigay, bigay. Ang nangyari sa akin, paglingon ko don sa timba ko, wala na palang natira sa akin. And then that broke me to a million pieces.”

Despite not having a clinical diagnosis, Alden’s experience echoed the symptoms of deep emotional exhaustion and depression.
