Celebrity couple Coco Martin and Julia Montes took a moment to speak to the media at the wake of the late National Artist Nora Aunor, offering heartfelt tributes to the iconic actress whose legacy shaped generations in the Philippine entertainment industry.

In a video captured by ABS-CBN News / Christopher Sitson, Coco Martin shared how deeply he and Julia were affected by Nora’s passing, recalling the bond they formed while working together on the film Padre de Pamilya.

“Kasi si Ate Guy hindi lang namin naka-trabaho bilang artista. Talagang naramdaman namin siya bilang nanay. Dahil nung nakasama namin siya sa Padre De Pamilya, mula noon kasi ’yung relationship nagdire-diretso,” Coco said.
“Naging magkaibigan kami, constant ’yung communication. Kaya kahapon nung nalaman namin nagulat talaga kami. Sobra kaming nagpapasalamat sa kanya sa iniambag niya sa industriya natin,” he added.

Julia Montes also offered her reflection on Nora Aunor’s lasting impact, not only as an artist but as a mentor and storyteller.

“Siguro bukod kasi sa talent ni Ate Guy, ang Superstar natin, ’yung lesson na ibinigay niya sa amin, ’yung mga kuwentong ishinare niya everytime na nakikipag-usap siya sa amin ay mababaon namin. Siguro kung gaano kami kalungkot, ganoon din kalungkot ang mga fans. Pagdasal lang natin kasi nasa langit na siya kasama ng Panginoon natin,” Julia shared.

Nora Aunor, fondly called “Ate Guy” by colleagues and fans, passed away at the age of 71. Widely revered as one of the greatest Filipino performers of all time, her influence on actors across generations—including Coco and Julia—continues to be felt as the country mourns her loss.

Nora Aunor was a celebrated Filipino actress, singer, and producer. Known as the 'Superstar of Philippine cinema, she has earned critical acclaim for her powerful performances in films such as Himala, Bona, and The Flor Contemplacion Story. Her contributions to the arts were recognized in 2022 when she was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts. In 1975, Nora married fellow actor Christopher de Leon. They have one biological son, Ian de Leon, and adopted four children: Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth de Leon.

As previously reported by KAMI, a vintage slum book page of Nora Aunor recently surfaced online, revealing some of her favorite things. She mentioned that Vilma Santos and Esperanza "Espie" Fabon were her "chum girls." She also shared that she dislikes arrogant people. She named Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick, and Barbra Streisand as her favorite singers.

Meanwhile, Nora Aunor shared the story of how she lost her powerful and striking voice. She said she simply woke up one day only to find out that she could no longer sing. She admitted that it was a painful experience for her, as she used to love singing more than acting back then. Unfortunately, her once-powerful voice could never be restored.
