American actor Lee O’Brian, former partner of Filipina comedienne Pokwang, has been deported from the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration confirmed in a statement.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the successful deportation of O’Brian, stating that he was removed from the country due to violations related to his work permits.
Last year, Pokwang, also known as Marietta Subong, filed a deportation case against O’Brian, accusing him of working in various production companies without the necessary permits from the Department of Labor and Employment and the BI.
The BI reviewed Subong's complaint and found merit in it, subsequently ordering O’Brian's deportation in December for breaching the conditions of his stay in the Philippines. Despite filing a motion for reconsideration, O’Brian's appeal was denied. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco confirmed that O’Brian was deported on the evening of April 8, boarding a Philippine Airlines flight to San Francisco. The BI ensured that there were no pending local cases against him before executing the deportation. As a consequence of his deportation, O’Brian has been included in the BI’s blacklist, prohibiting any future attempts to re-enter the Philippines.

Marietta Subong or Pokwang is among the most well-loved comediennes in the industry. Her frank and motherly ways are always "patok" among Filipinos. She used to be with ABS-CBN but moved to GMA during the pandemic. Some of her popular movies are “Call Center,” “A Mother’s Story,” and “Edsa Woolworth.” She has two daughters, Mae and Malia. Her split with Lee O'Brian has caused a buzz on social media.
As previously reported by KAMI, Pokwang, a prominent figure in showbiz, has recently stirred buzz on social media. On Instagram, Pokwang aired yet another message dedicated to her bashers. This was after her bashers called her "bitter" and told her to "move on." According to Pokwang, a lot of people have come to ask for her lawyer's number.
Meanwhile, Pokwang, in her recent online post, apologized to a lot of people on social media. Among the people she apologized to were the people working at the Bureau of Immigration. She then apologized to the "taumbayan" for the hurtful words she hurled at them before. Needless to say, Mamang Pokie's post stirred some social media buzz online.
