Darren Espanto ends romance rumors with Cassy Legaspi

Singer Darren Espanto has shut down the rumors online that there is romance between him and actress Cassy Legaspi.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, Darren clarified that he and Cassy are just best friends who care for each other.

"Best friends talaga. It's something a lot of people won't get. Hindi ko alam paano explain pero syempre andun yung pagmamahal namin sa isa't isa,” he explained.

When asked if it is possible for their friendship to turn into romance, Darren said: "No, not right now naman."

After being launched as a regular host on the noontime program “It’s Showtime,” Darren revealed that he is currently single after being asked by his co-hosts about his relationship status, as reported by GMA News.

Darren Espanto, born on May 24, 2001 as Darren Lyndon Gonzales Espanto, is a Filipino-Canadian singer and actor well-known for his cover songs such as "Dying Inside To Hold You", originally sung by Timmy Thomas. He first joined a competition at the age of ten, where he won the Masters Finals of the Pinoy Singing Sensation competition in Edmonton.

Previously, Darren and Cassy caused a buzz on social media the latter reposted the singer-actor’s cryptic post on X, formerly Twitter. On Instagram Stories, Cassy seemed to agree with her “bestie” Darren’s thoughts on people jumping to conclusions. Darren then reacted to Cassy’s IG story by lecturing those who make stories about him and the Kapuso actress.

Meanwhile, Cassy's twin brother, Mavy, shared a carousel of photos showing snippets of their birthday celebration. Aside from their parents Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi, several celebrities also attended the star-studded party. Isko Moreno, Buboy Villar, Dasuri Choi, and their fellow “Tahanang Pinakamasaya” hosts were among those spotted in the pics.
