Cristy Fermin reveals undergoing throat surgery, overcoming cancer scare

- Cristy Fermin underwent polyp throat surgery last August 15 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City

- The doctors were able to successfully remove a polyp from Cristy’s throat

- According to Cristy, she was extremely scared before the operation, which required her to undergo general anesthesia

- The biopsy also showed that the polyp removed was not cancerous

Cristy Fermin revealed on her Radyo Singko and One.PH program “Cristy FerMinute” that she underwent surgery last August 15.

According to Cristy, doctors at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City successfully removed a polyp from her throat.

The showbiz reporter also admitted that she was extremely scared before the operation, which required her to undergo general anesthesia.

“Alam niyo po, wala pong taong matapang pagdating sa operasyon. Hindi po local anaesthesia ang ginagamit sa ganitong operasyon sa polyp throat operation. General anaesthesia po ito,” Cristy revealed.

Her biggest fear – that she was possibly suffering from cancer – was squashed when the biopsy showed that the polyp wasn’t cancerous.

"Ang pinakamatindi na babagabag sa isip ng isang pasyente, yung biopsy.

"Napakahalaga po ng biopsy. Dun po malalaman kung ang nakuha sa inyo na polyp ay benign o meron pong kaakibat na cancer cells...

"Talagang noon ko pa po ipinapanalangin yung biopsy. Answered prayer po ako. Maraming-maraming salamat,” she said.

Finally, Cristy is thankful to God for the successful operation and because she was negative for cancer.

Born on July 23, 1956, Cristy Fermin is among the list of veteran writers in the world of showbiz and the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Cristy and Romel also discussed the news about Cherie Gil's passing. Previously, on Friday, Annabelle Rama confirmed Cherie's passing at the age of 59 via an online post. On 'Cristy Ferminute' online, the veteran columnist said that Cherie's family and friends knew about the actress's sickness for a long time already.
