Maxene Magalona opened up about the harsh realization she's encountered during her ongoing self-healing journey. The actress, who has been vocal about her struggles with past trauma and mental health issues, shared her insights on the complexities of personal growth and the pitfalls of striving for perfection.
The actress’ post underscored the profound challenges that come with the pursuit of self-improvement. She candidly acknowledged that the quest to become the "best" version of oneself on a daily basis can be draining and even counterproductive. She added that her journey towards healing had unintentionally transformed her into an anxious perfectionist, perpetually fearful of making mistakes.
For these reasons, Magalona emphasized that true healing does not manifest through an unattainable pursuit of flawlessness. Instead, she passionately asserted that genuine healing stems from a place of self-acceptance, where individuals can confront and embrace their imperfections. This, she noted, is the essence of inner work – a process that requires acknowledging one's vulnerabilities and actively addressing them with maturity and compassion.
The actress issued a heartfelt plea for self-kindness and patience, encouraging her followers to honor the sacred process of healing with the time and space it demands. While it's crucial to dedicate energy towards personal growth, Magalona highlighted the equal importance of granting oneself moments of respite. She advocated for days when individuals can simply embrace their natural selves, complete with their inherent flaws.

“Today’s harsh realization: Working on yourself and trying to be the “best” version of yourself everyday can be very tiring. The process of healing is turning me into an anxious perfectionist who is so scared to make mistakes.
“Wanting to be perfect all the time is the opposite of healing. Healing happens when we can acknowledge and accept our imperfections and figure out how to work on them as mature adults. This is what we call inner work.
”Please be kind to yourself and take your sweet time as you do the work to heal. This is a sacred process that must be honored with patience. As much as we need to focus and dedicate our energy to working on our healing, it is equally important to take days off when we can just let ourselves be who we naturally are—flaws and all,” Maxene said.
