Husband of known radio personality gets caught with P1.9M as a security guard

A security guard of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and husband of a well-known radio personality was caught having the unexplained amount of money in his bank accounts.

KAMI learned that Renly Tiñana, a Customs security guard, allegedly has P1.9 million in his several bank accounts as investigated by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS).

In a report by the GMA News, Tiñana was a Security Guard 2 at the BOC since 2002. He was assigned as a spot checker at the Port of Manila with a monthly salary of P14,000.

"Given 'yung salary grade niya, if at all, it warrants na kami ay tingnan namin kung ito ba ay naakma sa kakayahan niya o sa kakayahan ng pamilya niya na magkaroon ng ganito kalaking deposits," said Customs Assistant Commissioner Jet Maronilla.

Tiñana is now facing an administrative case and a three-month preventive suspension.

On May 20, a fake Customs employee was caught depositing money into Tiñana’s account. At least P150,00 was confiscated from the fake employee. However, Tiñana’s camp said that it was part of his wife’s salary.
