The movement to support local brands when it comes to fashion design has gained ground.

KAMI learned that there were three designers who have proven to the world that locally-sourced materials are not just competitive but may be even better.

In GMA's Stand for Truth, designers in the Philippines who were able to breach the international scene were featured.

These designers are urging everyone to support the local fashion industry since it is one surefire way to help the country's economy.

Among the names featured were Kandama, a fashion brand which has already been welcomed in Australia and Paris.

Its locally sourced materials, all woven by hands who have mastered the art of weaving handed down by their ancestors, have made a huge appeal to the foreign audience.

With its success in these countries, it is now preparing to take on New York this coming September.

Other brands that have achieved a similar success include Filip + Inna and Aranaz.
