Two Facebook posts circulated online claiming that Senator Risa Hontiveros defended the accused bully of the viral video of Ateneo de Manila Junior High students. KAMI learned that Senator Hontiveros cleared out the circulating fake news against her as reported by Rappler.

According to the viral post, Hontiveros said that there was no bullying that happened. Instead, the accused bully was just practicing his Taekwondo skills.

The claim was reported false and Hontiveros made it clear through her Facebook page. In the caption she said, “FAKE NEWS ALERT! Kahit Pasko ay hindi palalampasin ng mga fake newsmakers na ito. May hinahabol na quota? “

“Bullying is a SERIOUS and SENSITIVE issue that should never be condoned. I hope this shouldn’t distract us from doing what is right: ending the vicious cycle of violence,” she added.

In a previous report by KAMI, the Philippine Taekwondo Association released a statement regarding the Ateneo student with a background of Taekwondo who used his skills to bully another student. KAMI also recently reported that other senators commented on the issue of bullying.
