Mind-staggering cost of Catriona Gray’s evening gowns revealed by Mak Tumang

Newly-crowned Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray became trending on social media not just because of her beauty and intelligence but also due to the outfits that she wore before and during the pageant.
KAMI learned that the Pinay beauty queen decided to tap the service of designer Mak Tumang in making her all Filipino-inspired costume and gowns.
Few of the beautiful creation of the aforementioned designer were the evening gowns that Catriona wore in the preliminaries and Coronation Night which were based on “Ibong Adarna” and “Mayon Volcano.”
In an interview with GMA News, Mak finally exposed to public the mind-staggering amount of some outfits that the Bicolana model used in the important events of Miss Universe 2018.
Although he did not give the exact figures, the designer revealed that each gown costs more than one million pesos.
Mak explained that it reached this high because the materials of each outfit, which are mostly precious stones, already total to a million peso.
“Ang bawat isa, hindi bababa sa isa (milyon),” he expressed.
“For the materials, yung na-compute namin [ay] 1 million… Materials pa lang so wala pa yung labor and ibang ginastos doon,” he added.

The designer, moreover, disclosed that the making of the trending and spectacular gowns was no small feat since they needed 16 people to handle them.
He also admitted to doing seven sketches just so they could have several options as to what Catriona would wear during the important Coronation Night.
“Yung humawak niyan, nasa 16 people…” he quipped.
“For the final sketches, nag produce ako ng 7 sketches. Yung 5 concepts doon, original ko. Yung dalawa doon, sa kaniya. Pero yung napili, yung Mayon and Adarna [were] my proposals talaga…” he added.
