When there is something worth fighting for or if it is something you feel strongly about, you speak up, state your claim, and defend it like your life depended on it. That’s exactly what Jim Paredes did when someone close to his heart gets questioned for what he has achieved.

Jim Paredes, more familiarly known as 1/3 of the hit singing trio The Apo Hiking Society, went on a Twitter feud recently with Miyako Izabel, a blogger and conspiracy theorist on her questioning the validity of Ryan Cayabyab being named as a National Artist.

Clearly the tweet of Miyako struck a nerve because it caused Jim to reply to every post the blogger made.

Here are the highlights of the Twitter exchange. It started with this.

This was when Jim retaliated.

Then she went on to listing down some of Cayabyab’s work calling it ho-hum or boring.

The she started adding names of artists who she thinks are real poets.

Jim really took Miyako’s opinion on Mr. C seriously to the point that he was already schooling her on music history.

Then Miyako went on dropping names of different personalities who she thinks should be named the same.

The controversial tweet exchange went on for a total of 13 tweets and replies before Miyako decided to let it end.

Ryan Cayabyan is a National Treasure! His works have won the Philippines accolades/awards! Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika, Paraiso, Misa, aside from his opm compositions which were all hits in the 70s, 80’s . Up to now, he is still contributing to the music industry by discovering new talents and sharing his music abroad! That guy does not know what he is talking about! Do your research! This time kay Jim P ako!
I’m with Jim on this one! Di masagot ni Miyako yung ibang rebuttal ni Jim. She sounded like a hater lang.
Thank God for Jim Paredes. It's pretty clear this troll knows very little about Mr. C's work and its impact to OPM. He's probably one of those hipsters who hates anything mainstream. Pag sikat "uncool" na. lol Sad, he's missing out on some GREAT music.
