Armando Yabut, a Grab driver sued his passenger for serious physical injuries in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
This was after the passenger Jinno John Simon allegedly beat him up after his Iphone which was left in the car was returned to him.
The driver posted in Facebook about what happened.
Armando Yabut, 30, said that on Feb. 9, the passenger identified as Jinno John Simon, left his phone inside his vehicle.
According to Yabut he coordinated with Grab to locate Simon and they did.
The driver was asked to drive to Simon's house in Kamuning, Quezon City, to return his phone upon talking via phone call.
“But … instead of thanking me, he suddenly accused me of being a thief and began to beat me up,” Yabut said in his post.
Yabut was forced to sign a settlement admitting he stole the phone after officials threatened to summon his pregnant wife according to a police report.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Simon said he was sorry for what he did but explained he did it because he believes the driver really planned to take his phone.
He said he was scared for his security after receiving many hate messages and bashing from the netizens.
Despite this, Yabut is determined to make Simon pay for what he did to him.
Grab supports Yabut with this endeavor.
