Veteran actress Shamaine Buencamino opened up about the death of Julia Louise, her daughter with her actor husband Nonie Buencamino. Julia died in July 2015.

KAMI learned from PEP.ph that the actress feels somehow responsible for her daughter’s death for not being aware of the struggle she was going through.

"Wala, unfortunately for us, we were foolish. Ngayon, nasasabi ko in hindsight na parang ang tanga-tanga namin.

"Kasi, akala namin, dahil pinalaki namin silang masayahin, nabigay namin ang lahat ng kailangan nila, okay na."

According to a psychological autopsy done by a doctor, Julia had a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which involves anger, anxiety and depression over a long period of time.

"I think, one side of it—that’s why they call it the invisible illness—kasi any person who’s suffering, depression or bipolar, they can hide it, e. Parang normal lang,” Shamaine explained.

She also wishes that she looked into the diaries and artworks of her daughter instead of respecting her privacy too much.

"So, may parang... may written rule na you can’t look. So, parang ganun yung ginawa namin sa kanila.

"Kahit na nandun lang yung diary ni Julia, hindi ko tinitingnan…

"Sabi nga nung spiritual adviser ni Nonie, 'It’s your responsibility kasi menor de edad pa 'yan. You should really know everything about your child.'"

"Sana alam ko. Sana alam ko na meron siyang ganung dinaramdam para natulungan namin siya, para nadala namin siya sa doctor. Sana nagamot pa siya."

Aside from Julia, Nonie and Shamaine have three other children.

One of them is Delphine Buencamino, also an actress.

Nonie is 50 years old while Shamaine is 52.

KAMI admires the married couple for showing strength and courage despite their great loss.
