Former sexbomb dancer Sugar Mercado won a case against her ex-husband who physically ang emotionally abused her. The Supreme Court's decision delighted Sugar's friends and supporters and even the women's party Gabriela.
In a joint statement of Representatives Emmi de Jesus and Arlene Brosas of Gabriela, they said that Mercado's success isn't just hers but also for all the women who experienced violence just like her.
Supreme Court Third Division issued a Permanent Protection Order in favor of Mercado which was questioned by her ex-husband Kristofer Jay Go.
Sugar Mercado dreamed of having a happy family life so she left showbiz. She was known for her funny and jolly personality. Indeed she was a good actress because there seemed not a single trace of sadness in her smiles and laughter.

The funny celebrity filed a criminal charges against her husband for “Violence Against Women.” in 2015. Her courage is very remarkable but she wasn't able to hold her tears when asked why she gave up finally.
The 31-year-old comedienne had to raise her 2 kids single-handedly ever since she parted ways with her ex-husband. She had to strive hard to make ends meet.
She shared what she learned from what had happened to her.
“Okay na muna ako sa kids ko tsaka sa family ko. Natuto na rin ako na hindi sagot ‘yung pag-ibig sa guy. Basta masaya ka, masaya ako ngayon.
Laban lang, walang susuko dahil habang nabubuhay tayo, may pag-asa.”
