Donna Cariaga has broken the illusion and explained to her growing fans the real story behind James.

The 24-year-old won the grand prize on It's Showtime's The Funny One through her heartbroken skits about her ex-boyfriend James who have been cheating on her and using her for money.

It turns out that James is just a fictional character and Donna is actually happily in a long-term relationship with her first boyfriend.

The pair have been together for almost six years and have a 4-year-old daughter together.

Donna said James was inspired by real stories she heard from friends. She said she didn't expect that her comedy piece will be such a hit.

But when she saw the audience enjoying her performances, she continued using James as the centerpiece of her entries.

It proved a good decision because, in the end, she won the whole competition.

Her family is based in Baguio but they all went to Manila to support Donna on her new career.
