So when the actress called President Duterte a "dictator," supporters of the President backed him up.

“Im sorry but u come from where again Ms. @BetteMidler?” from Twitter user @JangEvans, and even attached a screenshot of crime rates in New York , compared side-to-side with the crime rates in Davao city.
During the ASEAN Summit 2017, Duterte met Trump together with other world leaders.
