Pinay OFW ties knot with a man with stage 4 cancer

A Pinay OFW found not only a job in California but true love as well when she met a man that made her heart beat faster.

Native of Los Banos, Laguna Vilma Cabading flew to the United States to become a caregiver. She took care of Robert Ferriera’s ailing aunt. However, they fell in love.

They carefully planned a summer wedding set in July this year, but Robert, 65, received the devastating news that he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Robert was hospitalized and overthrew their plans.

“The last few weeks have been surreal,” said Robert Ferreira. “The one constant in my life is my love for Vilma. We wanted to be married and my cancer diagnosis was not going to rob me of that joy.”

They tied the knot in the hospital where Robert is admitted. The hospital staff was kind enough to do the preparations for the impromptu wedding.

"The staff here is amazing,” says Vilma Cabading. “Every bride dreams of her wedding day and thanks to everyone here, my special day could not have been more beautiful. I am so touched by what everyone has done for us.”
