Parents of baby born prematurely seek help for hospital bills

- The mother, identified as Jovel Santiago-Sevilla, shared that her baby had been born prematurely at 28 weeks and has been staying in the hospital for three months
- She shared that now, her baby has already gained weight and is now at a safe 1,800 grams (3.97 lbs.) but they do not have the money to pay for the bills
A netizen who goes by the name Al Mendoza, has called the attention of Kami.com.ph to the plight of a young mother who needed help in getting her baby discharged from the hospital.
In a Facebook post shared by Mendoza, the mother, identified as Jovel Santiago-Sevilla, shared that her baby had been born prematurely at 28 weeks on October 3, 2016. According to her, it has been three months and the baby who was born weighing 1,020 grams (2.2 lbs.) has been under hospital care since his birth.
She shared that now, her baby has already gained weight and is now at a safe 1,800 grams (3.97 lbs.).
With her baby safely out of harm's way, the family has moved on to yet another burden - that of getting him out of the hospital.
The baby's mother had shared that the hopital refused to accept their promissory note, and discharge their baby, because of the hospital bills.

"Wala lang po kami pangbayad. Ayaw po kasi pumayag ng ospital na magpromisory note kasi masyado pong malaki lang bill namin," she said.
The post had been concluded with a heart-tugging plea, "Sana po ay matulungan nyo po kami," along with her contact details.

Baka po may kilala kayong nagbibigay ng Financial or Medical Assistance hindi po kasi namin mailabas ng ospital ang aking anak sa sobrang laki po kasi ng bill namin. Mahigit tatlong buwan na po sya sa ospital dahil po pinanganak ko sya ng kulang sa buwan noong Oct.3, 2016. 28weeks lang po sya nun pinanganak ko 1,020grams lang po sya nun. Ngayun po ok na po sya 1800grams na po ang timbang nya. Any time po pwede na sya idischarge. Wala lang po kami pangbayad.
