Joaquin and Benny from “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” may be enemies doomed to hate each other from the start, but in real life, Arjo Atayde and Pepe Herrera are brothers in bond.
The former even composed a lengthy open letter to the comical actor when his final episode aired on the television screens on Monday night.
Arjo even had to upload it in two separate posts, with one paying tribute to Pepe’s gift in music in the form of a video, and the other a silly photo booth snap where Coco Martin was even included.
On the first half of his farewell letter, Arjo revealed his fondness towards Pepe’s character on the top-rated show. He even talked about the first time he had to do a scene as Joaquin and Pepe as Benny.
“The first time I had a scene with Benny was hard for me because of the way he delivered his lines… It was just so real. His character was a good contrast of mine; full of happiness while mine was angsty,” he wrote.
In a similar note, Arjo could not help but also recall his final moments in front of the camera with Pepe.
“…It was the hardest for me to do because it was hard to act angry at someone who has easily become not only one of my best friends but my brother.”
He also shared how the remake of the iconic movie paved way to both of their careers, to which both artists are grateful for.
Furthermore, Arjo admitted of being proud of his friend for the achievements he has accomplished, and for ‘growing as an actor and person.’
A string of thank yous was given, with Arjo shifting into a more humorous tone towards the end.
“I pray for more years of adventures and lousy decisions,” he said.
Besides Arjo, netizens were also mourning the death of Benny and expressed their sentiments on social media.
You will be surely missed, Benny!
