"Tawag ng Tanghalan sa Showtime" welcomes a new champion after a housewife from Zamboanga beats the two-day champion Weina Marie Eray on its first episode in 2017.
On Monday, a housewife named Emily Abello defeated a two-day defending champion Weina Marie Eray with her rendition of Zsa Zsa Padilla's 'Hiram.'
The 46-year old housewife from Zamboanga del Norte got a score of 93% and trumped Eray who got 92% with her version of 'I want to know what love is.'

Abello, a wife to a police officer from Zamboanga del Norte, joined the singing competition to help her family and grow her small business.
Abello, who's dream is to sing on national TV, has a son who works in a hotel.
She made it to the finals after winning over 24-year old Kevin Traquena from Muntinlupa and 16-year old Hera Kate Laz's from Negros Occidental.

She wowed the judges after her rendition of Kuh Ledesma's 'Dito Ba' and was praised for her amazing voice control and good song choice.
