One of this generation's promising actresses Janella Salvador has been chosen by Disney to sing a cover version of the theme song of the new movie 'Moana'.
The 'Born for You' star's version has already been released on Friday in a simultaneous launching on Disney Channel and in Disney Philippines' social media accounts. Janella who has been known for having a gifted voice sang the theme song beautifully, gaining praises from netizens especially Disney fans.
The multi-talented singer and actress who sang the song in English is one of the five singers picked from the Southeast Asia, namely Maudy Ayunda from Indonesia, AydaJebat from Malaysia, Myra Molloy from Thailand and MinhNhu from Vietnam who were selected to create their version of the movie's theme song "How Far I'll Go" in their local languages.
The Disney film's song was written by "Hamilton" composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and originally performed by Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara.
The announcement was made during the press conference of the Disney film in Singapore. The lucky Kapamilya actress had a chance to meet the person behind Moana's voice, Auil'i Cravalho and the four other singers from Southeast Asia.
Singing the new movie's theme song is not Janella's first time to perform a Disney song as she has also sang "Happily Ever After" in the 10th year anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland.
'Moana' is set to be screened in the Philippines on November 30.
The 'OPM Pop Sweetheart' has released songs such as 'Ganyan Talaga', 'Mahal Kita Pero', and sang covers of songs like 'Dear Heart', 'I Can', and 'Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso'.
