Lea Salonga annoyed by rude audience

Lea Salonga seemingly became annoyed on Twitter as she went on a series of tweets, a pet peeve on improper audience behavior. She went on Twitter to explain to her fans what the proper behaviour during a musical or play is.

Lea was told by her friends what they experienced watching the recent Les Miserables, at Solaire Theater, and it was not the kind of news that made her happy. Her friends told her of instances where some audience members displayed rude behaviour while watching the performance, that is, loud commentary, singing along with the cast, and texting or using their cellphone while inside the theater. Theaters are dark inside, and it can be very distracting to both fellow audiences and the cast when a lone or series of lights pop up in the middle of the darkness.

Therefore, the broadway star took to Twitter and voiced her thoughts on what is correct etiquette when watching a performance, along with a hashtag #SMH [shake my head].

Lea ended with a tweet to remind people that respect is not only given to "the cast working hard on stage," but also to "your fellow audience members and yourself."
