Maegan Aguilar revealed that she was able to ask for forgiveness from her father, the late OPM icon Freddie Aguilar, before his passing.

During the July 24 episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," Maegan became emotional as she looked back on her final conversations and heartfelt exchange with her father, sharing that she had already expressed both her gratitude and apology through a letter she wrote after his birthday in 2025.

Host Boy Abunda asked Maegan what she would say if she were given the chance to thank and apologize to her father.

"I did before he died. I wrote him a letter after his birthday. It wasn't a simple thank you and sorry - It was 'Tay, sobrang mahal n'yo pala ako the whole time. The whole time na hinayaan n'yo akong magkaletse-letse ang buhay ko. Kasi nagtiwala kayo na kakayanin ko. Nagtiwala kayo na l would find the right way and without you saying it, that means, gano'n n'yo ako kamahal, gano'n kalaki ang tiwala mo sa akin.'"

Maegan added that she wrote the letter after her father's birthday in 2025, saying, "That was after his birthday, 2025."

She also recalled one of her most treasured memories with Freddie—a birthday video greeting he sent her on April 9, 2025. According to Maegan, the video left a lasting impression because of how peaceful and radiant her father looked.

"April 9 [2025], my birthday, he sent me a video greeting. And the way he looked there, parang ang liwanag, para siyang anghel. And he had this smile, this aliwalas on his face. [Sabi niya,] 'Anak, I'm so happy. I love you so much. Paglabas mo, US tour tayo.' and then, come May, wala na. It's just a month after my birthday. Ang masakit nasa loob ako [rehab], so I can't even go out for it. Kasi talagang recipe for relapse."

Maegan's emotional recollection highlighted both her reconciliation with her father before his passing and the heartbreak of being unable to attend his funeral because she was in rehabilitation. Despite the pain, she was grateful she had the chance to tell Freddie how much his love and trust meant to her before he died.

Freddie Aguilar was an iconic Filipino folk singer, composer, and patriotic figure in the Philippine music industry. He was best known for his hit song "Anak," which was translated into more than 20 languages and sold over 33 million copies worldwide. His rendition of "Bayan Ko" also became a symbol of protest during the People Power Revolution.

In the same interview, Maegan reflected on her past battle with addiction and admitted that she once used the challenges in her life as an excuse for her actions. She shared that undergoing rehabilitation helped her understand the difference between struggling with life's problems and living with addiction.

Maegan also opened up about one of the darkest periods of her life after her first stay in rehabilitation. She recalled losing her home and sleeping inside a tricycle while relying on the kindness of others for food and help. The daughter of OPM legend Freddie Aguilar admitted she felt worthless during that time because of the choices she had made. Despite her struggles and a second stay in rehabilitation, Maegan remains committed to rebuilding her life.
