According to the ABS-CBN report, Sotto’s remarks appeared to subtly criticize COA Commissioner Mario Lipana, who has been accused of interfering in barangay-level financing in Pasig. The Office of the Ombudsman is currently investigating Lipana after he was implicated in a flood control scandal, based on information from Commission on Audit (COA) Chairman Gamaliel Cordoba.
Cordoba explained that, as an impeachable official, Lipana falls outside the COA’s disciplinary authority, with the case now under the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman. Sotto, widely recognized for his reform-oriented leadership, once again emphasized the importance of integrity and accountability in public service—principles that have earned him both citizen and public figure support.

After resharing the article, Versoza added his own comment: “huling baraha na talaga ng PILIPINAS si mayor Vico Sotto.” The statement reflects not only admiration but also a sense of hope that Sotto represents the kind of honest, principled leadership the country desperately needs.
Versoza’s post quickly went viral, resonating with netizens who echoed his sentiments. Many highlighted Sotto’s consistent advocacy for clean governance and transparency, with some agreeing that he remains one of the few public officials truly trusted by the people. In calling Sotto “the last card of the Philippines,” Versoza reinforced the perception that the mayor stands out as a rare figure in Philippine politics—a leader capable of restoring faith in public service.
As Sotto continues his efforts to implement reforms and hold officials accountable, the attention from personalities like Versoza underscores the growing public recognition of his dedication to principled leadership. His approach, marked by transparency and a focus on the common good, continues to inspire both citizens and prominent figures across the country.
