Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte denied that he challenged PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III to a fistfight, but still repeated the dare for another day.
In his Basta Dabawenyo vlog posted on Saturday night, July 26, Duterte said, “’Yun nga, kung lalaki ka talaga, suntukan tayo. Hindi naman kita hinamon. Sinabi ko talaga, kung magsuntukan tayo, mabubugbog kita. Hindi kita hinamon. Tanga. You’re just as stupid as the journalist that asked you.”
He clarified that he did not initiate a challenge, only stating that he would beat Torre up in a fight.
In a vlog posted last Sunday, July 20, Duterte earlier said, “Kasi matapang ka lang naman you have the position. Pero kung suntukan tayo, alam kong makaya kita. But then you're a coward,” which led to the scheduling of Sunday’s charity boxing match.

Torre responded by suggesting a charity boxing match instead, with proceeds going to victims of recent storms.
The event took place in Manila on Sunday morning, attended by hundreds of people, and included three undercard fights before the main event.
However, Duterte did not appear, and Torre was declared the winner by default.
In his latest vlog, Duterte said he skipped the match because Sunday was a “family day.”
He added that he would be available on another day and suggested Torre should use the time to prepare.

Duterte also questioned the point of the charity angle, saying, “If you really just want a fight, why do you need charity? Why do you need the, do you need to use what’s happening right now with the floods in Metro Manila?”
He also repeated his earlier call for all elected officials to undergo a hair follicle drug test before any match.

It can be recalled that Torre agreed to have a charity boxing match against acting Davao City Mayor 'Baste' Duterte. Their 12-round boxing match was supposed to take place in Rizal Memorial Coliseum today, Sunday. However, Duterte flew to Singapore and wasn't able to appear during the charity boxing match.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
