Veteran broadcaster and actress Charo Santos was recently honored with the title of Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa by St. Paul University Manila (SPU Manila), marking a significant milestone in her decades-long contribution to Philippine media and communications. She is an alumni of the prestigious school.

In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, Charo expressed her gratitude alongside photos and videos of her receiving the distinction during SPU Manila’s graduation ceremony for Batch 2025. “I’m profoundly grateful to St. Paul University Manila for this great honor,” she wrote. “To be awarded the first Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa, at the SPU Manila Fleur-de-lis Auditorium is both deeply humbling and immensely rewarding.”
Charo also extended her congratulations to the graduating class: “Heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2025! May you step forward with purpose and passion, shaping a future that reflects your aspirations.”
The award not only highlights her legacy in storytelling and leadership in Philippine broadcasting but also affirms her role as an inspiring figure to future generations in the fields of communication, media, and public service.

Charo Santos is a highly respected Filipino media executive, actress, and television host. She is best known as the longtime host of Maalaala Mo Kaya, the longest-running drama anthology in the Philippines. Born on October 27, 1955, Charo rose to prominence in the entertainment industry not only for her acting but also for her work behind the scenes as an executive. She served as the President and later the CEO of ABS-CBN from 2008 to 2016. Even after stepping down as CEO, she remained active as the network's Chief Content Officer.
