Jemarie Misajon, the young colleged student, was found lifeless in a creek on Friday morning, May 23, 2025 by her own mother.

Her brutal death, bearing signs of severe physical trauma, has sent shockwaves through Barangay Salvacion, prompting an urgent police investigation into what authorities suspect may have been a hom1cide following an attempted s3xual assault.

Misajon, a second-year Business Administration student, had reportedly left her home in Purok Catleya around 8:00 AM to perform a routine chore: washing clothes in a nearby creek, a task she frequently undertook during her visits home from school.

When she did not return after an extended period, her mother grew concerned and, along with a neighbor, began searching for her.

At approximately 11:00 AM, their worst fears were realized when they discovered Jemarie's body lying face down in the creek, devoid of life.

Initial investigations by the Palawan Provincial Police Office revealed horrifying details. Jemarie's body displayed evident signs of violence, including a wound on her forehead and swelling on the left side of her face.

A subsequent post-mortem examination, crucial for determining the exact cause of death, confirmed the extent of the brutality: her skull had been fractured, and her jaw dislocated.

These injuries strongly suggest she was violently struck with a hard object, leading investigators to explore the possibility of a failed rap3 attempt that tragically escalated into hom1cide.

The incident has profoundly impacted the close-knit community of Barangay Salvacion.

Barangay Captain Alonzo Gabinete, who has since been elected to the municipal council, has been actively involved in assisting Jemarie's family, helping to bring witnesses to the Roxas Police Station to expedite the investigation.

In a radio interview, Gabinete acknowledged that the incident has deeply shaken the residents’ sense of security, particularly given that the creek where Jemarie was found is only about 150 meters from her home—close enough to see, but tragically too far to hear any desperate cries for help, as noted by her grieving family.

For Jemarie’s family, her death is an immeasurable loss, compounded by the knowledge that she was the fifth among siblings striving to fund her education.

Her demise represents not just a tragedy but a cruel robbery of a promising future. The public’s reaction on social media has been one of profound grief and outrage, coupled with urgent calls for justice and heightened safety measures.

Comments poured in, reflecting shock and sorrow: “Condolence po sa family,” “ka sad naman,” and “grabing nangyari sa bata na to.”
Calls for immediate action were also prominent, with users demanding, “Hustisya para sa biktima,” and “sana matukoy at makulong ang suspek.”

Many underscored the vulnerability of women and the pervasive fear in communities, urging for an end to gender-based violence. The Roxas Police Station continues its thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s) responsible for this heinous crime.
