In an interview with ABS-CBN News journo Kat Domingo, Mayor Gomez said there would have been no Richard Gomez if the Kapamilya Network did not exist.
"I am not Richard Gomez now without ABS-CBN," Mayor Goma said during the interview.
He said he owes the network a huge debt of gratitude.
Richard did many projects under the network for almost twenty years.
"I was a long-time employee of ABS-CBN. I worked in ABS for 18 years," the Ormoc City mayor said.
Mayor Gomez, however, admitted that he's just one of those who will ultimately decide the fate of ABS-CBN.
Nevertheless, Richard believes that he should do whatever is good for many.
"In Congress, kanya-kanyang utak ‘yan. As a representative, you represent yourself and your people. So you stand there not as an individual," he said, adding that representatives do what is good for the people, particularly if it involves national interest.
He said that he would always go for what is better and good for the entire Philippines.
Mayor Gomez's recent announcement is nothing new as he had previously hinted of switching places with his wife in the coming elections as reported by Inquirer.

However, Juliana is not the only one Richard invited but also her good friends; Pia and Zoey who accompanied them. According to Richard, he and his daughter's friends had a fun time planting mango trees and pulling cassava plants. In July of this year, Richard confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The Mayor of Ormoc City and husband of Congresswoman Lucy Torres said that his infection may have something to do with his work as the local chief executive of the city.
