Paolo Contis might have inadvertently made The Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City, as the country’s “Friendship Capital,” as well.
This was what veteran showbiz columnist, Lolit Solis, said during the program “Take It Per Minute” when their discussion veered towards the statement of Paolo regarding his trip with Yen Santos to Baguio City.
“Dahil kay Paolo Contis Salve naging Friendship Capital of the Philippines ang Baguio City,” Lolit said.
Last week, the actor broke his silence about a video showing him and a female companion later identified to be Yen, his co-star in “A Faraway Land.”

In a statement posted on his IG account, Paolo apologized for being insensitive and revealed that he invited Yen for a day in Baguio City so he could have someone to talk to.
“She went there as a friend,” the actor’s statement went, the last three words later became a trending meme online.
Because of the immense reaction of netizens on Paolo’s statement, particularly on his “as a friend” phrase, Lolit remarked that the actor would do the Department of Tourism a lot of good.
The veteran columnist jokingly said Paolo could become an endorser for friendly couples who wanted to go to Baguio City “as friends.”
“Dapat siguro kunin ni DOT Sec. Berna Romulo Puyat si Paolo Contis para endorser sa mga mag friends na gusto mag usap lang na pumunta sa Baguio, as 'friends' kahit pa nga babae at lalaki na magkasama aakyat sa malamig na city,” Lolit said.
She noted that a lot of people are now using the tagline “as friends,” adding that it’s gone crazy.
The veteran columnist then said that it’s not really common for a guy to call a girl and invite her to be with him because he has a problem.
It is also uncommon for a single girl to accede to the invitation of someone like Paolo Contis, whom she knows had a colorful lovelife in the past, and be alone with him in a faraway location to talk “as friends,” Lolit said.

Cristy Fermin has openly stated that Yen Santos is no longer in a relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who happens to be a politician. She said that she was informed that Yen and her ex have broken up for a long time already, hence Yen is "libre." The columnist also clarified that there is no more communication, no more "sustento" from the unnamed politician. Cristy also said that Yen was allegedly replaced by another actress who is about to "fly."
Lolit Solis revealed some insight on the possibility of Paolo Contis and Yen Santos together. She, along with Cristy Fermin, and Mr. Fu, were talking about the financial status of Yen Santos, whom they said has already saved up a lot. The manager of Paolo then said that Yen might not be used to Paolo as he is not as rich as the ex of Yen. She then quipped that it might even be Paolo who will consume Yen's savings.
