The house, which was built on stilts, rises approximately six to seven feet above the surface of the sea.
Since it has no toilet area, Lyca and her family would just make use of a hole on one section of the floor and had to wait until it is nighttime to answer the call of nature.

Sometimes, they would also make use of a traditional chamber pot whenever they get the urge to pee.
“Minsan ano, arinola, para ihian po namin,” Lyca said.
Karen then showed the flooring on the house where the singing champ used to live.
It was made of several pieces of wood laid beside each other, though there are areas where one can find huge slits.
Through those slits, one can see the raging waves of the sea below.
Karen then asked if there was a time that the house faced the threat of destruction because of a storm or typhoon.
