- Harry Roque defended the appointment of Mocha Uson in government amid the controversy surrounding the statement of the President against a mayor in NCR

- Earlier, the President questioned the moral ascendancy of the said mayor to lead, having been regarded as a strong contender for the presidency

- The President recalled the past of the said mayor, saying that he used to dress scantily in front of the camera and was photographed peeking at his private parts

- Amid all these, some began to also recall the colorful past of the Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and reporters asked Roque about it

Harry Roque defended the appointment of Mocha Uson in government amid the tongue-lashing of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte against an unnamed mayor.

During a press briefing, Roque was grilled by reporters with regards to the President questioning the "moral ascendancy" of the said mayor.

“Hindi ko alam bakit nilalabas mo ang pangalan ni Isko Moreno. Hindi ko alam na siya ang nakapose roon," said Roque.

He was then asked how former-entertainer Mocha Uson's appointment as PCOO's assistant secretary runs counter with the call of the President for moral ascendancy.

Roque answered:

"Ang ini-issue lang niya is ano ang moral ascendancy nitong taong ‘to para mamuno ‘no. Si Mocha Uson, well, na-appoint po iyan pero hindi ko naman po alam kung ano talaga nakaraan ni Mocha Uson ‘no sa totoo lang po ‘no. Ang sinasabi ko lang is the President gave her a second chance and I think she took advantage of the second chance," said Roque.

Harry Roque is a Filipino lawyer and politician. He is also a former law professor. He now serves as President Rodrigo Duterte's spokesperson.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque confirmed in a press briefing that President Duterte did say face shields should only be worn in health facilities. Spox Roque said that if that is the decision of the President, then it becomes policy. The President’s statement appears to affirm what was earlier stated by DOH USec Leopoldo Vega that those walking or working in open-air settings no longer need to wear face shields on top of face masks. Roque however clarified that the IATF could still appeal the decision of the President.

He also narrated a joke suggesting that he and actor James Reid looked alike. Because of this, netizens let out a flood of comments, with many of them sneering at Roque. Many netizens also created memes about the James Reid joke of the Malacañang spox. Roque also recently became a hot topic on the Internet because of his remark that it is “unchristian” to ask why he was immediately able to get a room at the PGH.
