- The stick led to a false positive result because it already contains dead coronavirus strains
- The actress had a re-swab and the result turned negative using the right stick, but still opted not to go home to Elias out of fear and anxiety, which caused her undue stress

Derek Ramsay revealed in Ogie Diaz's vlog that Ellen was not able to see her son for 20 days following the false positive result that came out due to the wrong stick that was used on her at the set.

According to Derek, the company that handled the testing used a positive control stick, which, will always lead to a positive result.
The actor then revealed that Ellen got so stressed because of it and even though her result turned out negative after a re-swab, she still opted to protect her son and the elderly parents of Derek, and did not come home for 20 days.
Derek, and their whole family, also did tests in order to be sure.
He lamented both the cost and the stress that the whole thing led.

Derek Ramsay took the time to respond to a basher who told him that he was insensitive and that he was disrespecting John Lloyd Cruz. This came after the Kapuso actor uploaded a video of him, together with Ellen and Elias, the son of JLC with Ellen Adarna. One netizen accused him of being insensitive to the feelings of JLC, while another said that he was disrespecting the father of Elias. The actor replied that he meant no disrespect to John Lloyd and that he knows that JLC is a good father.
The actor took to Instagram and posted a photo of the cover shoot of Mega magazine. The actress commented on the photo, "Ang guwapo mo pala" followed by the hashtag "#jawdrop" and three emojis. In her IG story, she then proudly reposted the photo of Derek and said, "OMG! My boyfriend."
