Raymond Gutierrez admitted hating himself over the years because of his inability to come out openly as gay.

The celebrity host and occasional actor said he was very afraid back then to admit he’s a member of the LGBTQ community.

Raymond said that back then, he’s wary might subject his family to shame and ridicule, particularly that his twin brother, Richard Gutierrez, who's been into super masculine roles, including portraying heroes.

Because of his non-admission, however, he started hating his life.

While there were already some speculations about his orientation, the younger brother of Ruffa Gutierrez never admitted officially it in public.

“I was never not out. I never denied who I was. I just never shared my story publicly until now,” Raymond wrote in an IG post.

He admitted having great difficulties because of his decision to hide his true self.

“Growing up, it took a while for me to face my true identity, and figuring it out wasn’t easy. I went through a dark phase of self destruction – creating unhealthy habits to have some sort of escape so I didn’t have to face my reality,” Raymond revealed in his post.

Richard's twin also said he kept some things to himself out of fear he might bring shame to his family.

“I kept things to myself because I was scared to bring shame to my family, and didn’t know how others would treat me,” the celebrity host said.

He then said he’s sharing his story to encourage others to love themselves and acknowledge their feelings.

“If there’s one thing I learned this past year and a half is that life is fleeting. I want to encourage those who feel alone that it’s never too late to love yourself, acknowledge those feelings and face your fears — because it feels really good to be on the other side,” he revealed.

The twin brother of Richard then declared that orientation should never hinder greatness.

“Orientation shouldn’t define who you are and it should never hinder your greatness. For me personally, being in touch with my masculine and feminine side allowed me to push boundaries creatively and create magic with the projects I do,” Raymond professed.

Raymond Kristoffer R. Gutierrez, simply known as Raymond Gutierrez, is a Pinoy TV host, occasional actor, columnist, editor, entrepreneur, and endorser living in the Philippines. He was born on January 21, 1984 to actor Eddie Gutierrez and talent manager Annabelle Rama in Beverly Hills, California. Raymond did a couple of hosting stints, including "Pinoy Idol" and "Showbiz Police". He is the younger brother of Ruffa Gutierrez, Elvis Gutierrez, Rocky Gutierrez, and the twin brother of Richard. He has a younger brother named Ritchie Paul Gutierrez. Raymond also has two older half-brothers, namely Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Tonton Gutierrez.

On August 1, during an interview with Mega Entertainment, Raymond revealed that he is gay. The host formally made the announcement and said that he is a proud member of the LGBTQ community. Mond stated that it felt great that he was able to say it publicly because he is. He also mentioned that he is already out to many of his friends and he is simply glad that he has the support system around him, giving him the confidence to accept who he is.

After his announcement, Raymond managed to hug headlines in the Philippines. Some of his loved ones took to social media to express their love and support for Raymond. Ruffa Gutierrez said in the comments section of Raymond’s post that she loves him. Richard Gutierrez, his twin brother, posted heart emoticons to convey his love and support for him.
