Catriona Gray was the one who introduced the top 12 finalists for the Bb. Pilipinas. As she was announcing the candidates who made it to the top 12, she mistakenly mentioned "Venezuela." Venezuela is a country in the Latin Americas, and not a city in the Philippines. Netizens found the faux pas truly endearing, with some netizens saying that the whole thing was cute.
Catriona Gray was criticized and compared to other singers who are able to reach high notes. However, the Miss Universe 2018 admitted that making 'birit' is not her style. She said that music is part of her life since she was young and that she never really directly dreamed of becoming a singer. She also said that she wants to pursue singing as an artist and not just as a beauty queen who was only given an opportunity to sing.
