Karen Davila, a popular broadcaster, anchor, and talk show host of ABS-CBN, recently sat down with Ogie Diaz for an interview where they discussed a range of topics.

While many of the topics discussed were explosive and shocking in nature, nothing was more appalling that the admission of Karen that she was offered bribes so many times, most of it involving her work on the radio.
Ogie asked her first how many years has she been in the business, which the veteran broadcaster then answered 27 years. Ogie then followed up the question by asking Karen if she has been offered bribes before.
“Absolutely! Alam mo ang pinakamalaking attempt sa suhol ay sa radyo. Kasi sa radyo, hindi mo alam ang komentaryo eh napakadali,” Karen admitted.
However, she also said that at no time did she accept any bribe offer.
“Ito po ang masasabi ko sa inyo na talagang with a straight face. All the times that I have been offered, I have never taken a single centavo in my life,” Karen explained and firmly emphasized.
She then gave a reason on why she opted not to accept such bribes.
“Because I felt ayokong babuyin yung propesyon ko! Hindi rin naman ako Ogie magiging ganito o rerespetuhin nang ganito kung kakalat rin eh, na ‘ay tumatanggap yan,’ kakalat yun!” Karen said.
She also said that the Philippines is a small country and had she accepted, everyone would now say that veteran journalist accepts bribes from this politician or so.
Karen said that she has been bashed and called many names but no one can say that she can be bribed.

Karen Davila, also known as Kristine Karen Davila–Sta. Ana is a Filipino journalist, radio broadcaster, newsreader, and television presenter. She was born on November 21, 1970. She graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts major in Mass Communication at the University of the Philippines. Karen is famous for being the host of the ABS-CBN talk show, “Headstart.” She also is an anchor with different news shows of ABS-CBN, including those in the radio branch of the network.

Karen was among to express their great grief following the cease of operations of ABS-CBN Regional group. She also penned about her colleagues in Manila affected by the second wave of retrenchment of the network’s employees. The prominent Kapamilya broadcaster even compared the pain she feels to “death by a thousand cuts.” Despite being “blessed to have saved and be married to a supportive hardworking husband with a good job,” Karen is still worried for the future of ABS-CBN.
A month ago, Karen also took to her Instagram page to share an uplifting post about “fear.” One rude netizen, however, penned an unsolicited comment on her post and regarded her as a hypocrite. The basher likewise asked for her opinion on Angel Locsin’s community pantry incident. The broadcaster then hit back at the basher by clarifying that Instagram is not the only platform she has.
