Melai Cantiveros says she refuses to pay for relatives' tuition fees

Melai Cantiveros was recently interviewed by Enchong Dee for his YouTube channel where the actress was asked to speak about her values and beliefs.
As a self-proclaimed "budgetarian", Enchong Dee also got Melai to share how she manages her funds and how she does her budgeting.
Melai admitted that when she first started in the show business she really spent money to try everything she wanted so she was not able to invest in anything before but her habits and beliefs changed once she had her own family.

Melai also explained that when her relatives ask her to pay for their tuition fees she refuses them in order to instill the important lesson of taking responsibility for one's life and not depending on the help of others.
"Kami, bata pa lang kami, tinuruan na kami na huwag umasa. Dapat kayo maging breadwinner. Pero dapat breadwinners. Lahat kayo breadwinners ng family. Kunwari nagta-trabaho si Ate. Dapat nagta-trabaho ka rin. Kunyari sinabi ng kapamilya ko tuition fee, ba’t ako mag-tuition fee? Pagalitan talaga."
