On Feb. 24, Wednesday evening, a misencounter during a "bungled buy-bust" operation, as Rappler noted, took two lives, that of two PNP officers, with another officer in critical condition.
As per ABS-CBN's report, there were also three PDEA agents who got injured during the shootout.
The incident happened at Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City near the Ever Gotesco Mall.
Sketchy reports from the Batasan police station revealed that at around 5:45 p.m., detective special operations unit (DSOU) agents were conducting a buy-bust, reported Inquirer. However, the PNP officers did not know that they were transacting with PDEA agents.
The PNP claimed that it was the PDEA that made the first shot.
PNP noted that there will be a joint probe, which will be led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
