Angel Locsin was recognized by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for her being a real-life ‘Darna’, especially during the pandemic.

Angel was given the Spirit of Philanthropy Award, and she shared it with her supporters on social media.

On Instagram, the Kapamilya actress uploaded a photo of her showing the certificate she has received.

She was congratulated by both of her fans and fellow celebrities.

“Nice one, gel!! (emoji)” Pocholo Barretto commented.

Currently, Angel serves as PRC’s ambassador, and she has been active in the organization’s programs and activities.

It can be remembered that the actress helped PRC in its efforts to help the victims of the recent floods.

Moreover, when the pandemic started, Angel was among the first celebrities who initiated to help those who were affected by lockdown. Together with Anne Curtis, she raised funds for free mass testing. She also donated tents for medical frontliners and COVID-19 patients.

Angel was also included in Tatler Asia’s “Gen T List”. It distinguishes young leaders who are helping Asia mold a better future with their contribution to society. Among her philanthropic efforts which gained her recognition was her $300,000 donations for scholarships.

In 2019, Angel was recognized by Forbes Asia as one of Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy.

She was also given the Jury Award for Humanitarian Citation from the 18th Gawad Tanglaw.

Angel Locsin is a Filipina film and television actress, product endorser, fashion designer, and film producer. Her career started in GMA-7 in 2002 and among her popular shows under the network are “Mulawin”, “Darna”, and “Majika”. In 2007, she moved to ABS-CBN and became one of the Kapamilya network’s biggest stars. Some of her series are “Lobo”, “Imortal”, “The Legal Wife”, and “The General’s Daughter”.

A month ago, Angel was among the Filipino celebrities who became grateful for Forbes’ recognition. However, despite her philanthropic efforts, Angel is not exempted from negative comments. In fact, she was recently body-shamed in a DepEd module.
