Former Kapamilya celebrities among the newly licensed doctors

Former Kapamilya celebrities, Angeli Gonzales and Alec Duñgo, are among the November 2020 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) passers.

From being a child star, Kay Angeli Gonzales, or more commonly known as Angeli Gonzales in showbiz, has finally achieved her dream of becoming a doctor.
On early Thursday morning, she wrote on her Instagram:
“Finally #LicensedtoHeal To God be the Glory,”
Among those who congratulated her were fellow stars Ara Mina and Kristel Fulgar.

The former Kapamilya child star graduated from the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in 2019. She is also a registered medical laboratory scientist and medical transcriptionist.
Angeli Gonzales was active in the entertainment industry in the early 2000s. She was seen in shows like “Wansapanatym,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Home Along Da Riles,” and “Luv U.”
Another newly licensed physician is the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate, Alec Brandon Duñgo.
He also posted his success on Instagram:
“To God be the glory!!! We made it! Thankful for everyone who made this dream possible,”
Last September, YouTube personality Rafael Erni interviewed Alec. He answered the question of why he chose med school over a showbiz career.
“Siyempre sumali ako ng PBB noong 2012. Akala ko nong time na ‘yun doon ako papunta towards showbiz pero parang dumating sa point na na-miss kong mag-aral, na-miss kong mag-school, and even nong before I joined PBB naman, ‘yung dream ko talaga was to become a doctor.
So nong ga-graduate na ako ng undergraduate course ko na BS Pharmacy, may turning point talaga na itutuloy ko mag-med school or ita-try ko mas mag focus sa showbiz?” he shared.

Alec Duñgo was part of the “Pinoy Brother: Teen Edition 4”. In 2019, he graduated cum laude at the University of Sto. Tomas. He is also a registered pharmacist.
Angeli Gonzales and Alec Duñgo were only among the 3,538 PLE passers announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for 2020. It was topped by Jomel Garcia Lapides, who was also the 2011 Nursing Licensure Exam top-notcher.
In a previous report by KAMI, Vice President Leni Robredo’s daughter, Tricia, was also one of the Physician Licensure Examination passers.
