The documentary film featuring the coming out of Jake Zyrus is now nominated at the prestigious International Emmy Awards.
KAMI learned that the said information was announced by the popular singer through his recent post on social media.
The said masterpiece, which was based on the life of the Filipino singer and songwriter, is nominated under Arts Programming category.
In vying for the highly-coveted award, it will face other acclaimed works such as “Refavela” of Brazil, “Why Do We Dance?” of the United Kingdom, and “Vertige de la Chute” of France.
“Surreal!” Jake wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you, @iemmys - It's an honor,” he added.
The said nominated docu-film featured the much-talked-about transition of Jake from globally-acclaimed singer Charice Pempengco.
It premiered in Japan last year and it was produced by the country’s national broadcasting organization called NHK in cooperation with ABS-CBN.
Jake Zyrus is a well-known singer and songwriter in the Philippines. He is previously known as Charice Pempengco, the girl who made international TV appearances because of her singing prowess.
His mother Raquel Pempengco created buzz online a few months ago after uploading a photo of “Charice.”
The statement of Jake about the issue about restroom for LGBTQ+ was able to earn praises in the online world.
