Jose Mari Chan himself wanted to know why his yuletide track “Christmas in Our Hearts” became a hit.
In the Kapuso online show “Just In”, the Philippine “King of Christmas Carols” asked host Paolo Contis’ views on why he thinks the said song became Filipinos' favorite for three decades now. The song was released on November 17, 1990.
“Let me ask you Paolo, why do you think my ‘Christmas in Our Hearts’ has become a big hit? I would like to ask your opinion,” Jose Mari asked.

Paolo then said that it is very relatable and easy to recall or sing.
"To be honest, alam mo 'yung nakaka-[relate] siya sa mga bata. I know old Christmas songs, it's just your songs are much more relatable, easier to sing for people. Especially with how you told me how you composed, it's just talking...it's like talking to someone with a beat."
