In a video posted by Inquirer on Twitter, President Duterte said that he also understands the struggles of the health workers right now.

“My wife has also volunteered to be a frontliner. May anak kami, kaisa-isa. But since she is moved by a sense of… Kasi nga sabi niya, nahihiya siya sa sarili niya,” the President said.

“She’s a nurse and yet… it’s a war against the virus. Who are our soldiers? The nurses and the doctors.

Honeylet Avanceña is the partner of President Rodrigo Duterte. She has a daughter with him, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte. Honeylet used to be a nurse in the United States for four years.

Earlier, President Duterte scolded the medical frontliners for going public with their appeal instead of directly relaying to him.

However, the Healthcare Professionals Alliance explained that they had been trying to communicate to the President and the concerned agencies. They also said that they do not want a revolution, they just needed support and help.
