There were two notable congressmen who caught media attention because they were former actors. Both did not vote for a "yes" to the renewal of the franchise.
One was Rep. Dan Fernandez, a former actor, and a cast of the original "Mara Clara," which starred Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.
The other was Rep. Alfred Vargas, who started his showbiz career with Star Magic (formerly Star Circle). When a Manila Times report leaked the names of those who voted "no," the name of Rep. Vargas was listed as among those who voted adversely. Thereafter, he issued a statement that the report was fake news.
Following the statement, he then made it public that he will be abstaining from voting due to conflict of interest.
A netizen tweeted the names of those who did not support the renewal of the franchise.
