Biography
Darren was born on 24th May 2001 in Calgary, Canada. His real name is Darren Lyndon Gonzales Espanto. He is the son of Marinel Gonzales (mother) and Lyndon Espanto (father). The singer has a younger sister who goes by the name Lynelle Espanto.
Darren Espanto parents discovered his talent in singing while he was a toddler after serenading them with the tunes of Hakuna Matata from The Lion King.
When he was twelve years old, Darren attended grade 6 at St. Jude Elementary in Calgary before traveling for The Voice Kids audition in the Philippines in 2014. Upon passing the auditions, he traveled back to Canada to undertake his advanced test which took place in St. Cyril School.
Together with the other The Voice Kids finalists, Darren received a scholarship worth ₱350,000 from Eton International School. After relocating to the Philippines, he joined Eton International School and later on, undertook homeschooling under The Homeschool of Asia Pacific which is an associate of the Sanston Academy in Texas where he completed with honors.

Career
Darren made his first appearance on television when he joined YTV’s reality television show dubbed The Next Star which took place in 2012. He was ranked as the youngest finalist to be included on the list of the top 6 contestants.
On 1st June 2014, he became a part of the ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. In December 2014, he made his initial debut full-length studio album which was titled Darren under the MCA Music Inc. The album debuted in position one on the Philippines charts of Apple’s iTunes store and the Astro Chart.
In May 2016, he released his sophomore album dubbed Be With Me which was produced under the MCA Music Inc. In August 2018, he ventured into acting with his first role being Yohan, in the film The Hows Of Us.
